I've decided to start a new blog I'm calling Image of the Week. I've thought about doing some kind of blog for a long time but was overwhelmed with the thought of coming up with content every day. I know enough to know that that was never going to happen. Then I thought; how about an image every week. Suddenly it seemed manageable. So the idea is to post either a newly created image or something that's been hiding in my hard drive forever that wants to see the light of day.
I thought I'd start with the image that's on my About page. It's called Self Portrait in Film Noir. This was done many years ago after seeing the film "The Third Man", with Orson Wells, for the first time. If you haven't seen it, go to Netflix right now and watch it, I'll wait..... OK, you can see the influence here. I was fascinated by the cinematography and particularly the use of light and shadow. The next day I grabbed the hat and coat(which I already had) and set this up in our living room just using window light.
More next week.
