We often associate photography with travel. You head off to (insert exotic locale here) with every piece of camera gear you own in tow. You come home with both an amazing experience and cards filled with wonderful images. You can't wait for the next adventure. Travel is a great way to broaden your horizons both in life as well as photographically. I would encourage you to take advantage of that as often as you're able.
But you don't have to travel to (insert different exotic locale here) to make interesting images. The image above is a rhubarb leaf in our backyard. It's about twenty steps from the back door. Interesting images are everywhere. Keep in mind that one persons home is another's exotic locale. Try looking at where you live with the same eyes you would use if you were in (insert even different exotic locale here). I'll bet you can create an interesting photograph from where you're standing. You just need to look with fresh eyes. Try it. It might be the start of something new.
