Made it back from Southeast Alaska. We had a wonderful trip. The workshop was great fun with near perfect weather and a fantastic group of people.
That's all of us above, including Christine and Jeffery(third and fourth from the right) who ran the boat. This is on one of our shore excursions to photograph one of the glaciers.
Here we're photographing the Marjorie Glacier and a kittiwake rookery from the skiff. The skiff allowed us to get closer to the caving ice than we would have been able to otherwise.
We saw lots of glaciers, including the Johns Hopkins seen here, one of the more spectacular.
We saw lots of wildlife, including humpback whales (above). A lot of the wildlife was seen from a distance from the boat. So even with a long lens it was often; see that brown spot? That's the bear. With some serious cropping you could get something recognizable but it made for a fairly small file.
I'm still going thru the 3.7 squillion images I came back with. In the next couple of weeks I'll post more, including some from the Mendenhall ice caves. Lots of stories to tell, including the survival of the bear attack.
